About Dr. Shirin Hebert
Dr. Shirin Sabbaghian Hebert is board-certified in complex surgical oncology (2015) and general surgery (2011). She has a passion for providing expert, personalized care. She earned her degree in Microbiology from LSU in Baton Rouge, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as a University Medalist with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She then completed a year of HIV research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), laying a strong foundation in basic science.
She went on to study medicine at LSU New Orleans, graduating top of her class and earning election into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Hebert then trained in General Surgery at NYU, where she also served as a Translational Research Fellow, focusing on diseases like gallbladder disorders, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, and sarcoma.
Her advanced fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh prepared her to treat a wide range of cancers and benign tumors, including those of the breast, skin, soft tissue, GI tract, and endocrine system. Her deep understanding of tumor biology, combined with a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, ensures every patient receives the most tailored and effective care possible.
Dr. Hebert is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several leading medical organizations, including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Withi the Society of Surgical Oncology, she woks as part of the Colorectal Disease Site Work Group. Commited to staying at the forefront of her field, Dr. Shirin Hebert is certified in robotic surgery.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Hebert enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two dogs, finding joy in family life when she’s not serving patients.
